Details & Info ↗
“Jalika,” a physical, contemporary circus production, is our creative team’s concept inspired by the era of old black and white films, with a focus on the artists’ facial expressions. It features a distinctive set design with a complex rigging system of hanging lamps, whose moving lights create intriguing effects, specially designed for a black box theatre setting.
The production explores the journey of self-discovery, contrasting Identity and Image, and their societal significance in modern times. “Jalika,” a Sanskrit word meaning veil, web, or net, encapsulates the essence of our piece.
The narrative of Jalika unfolds through a blend of dance, mime theatre, and aerial arts within contemporary movement.
This production has successfully toured and performed at venues such as G5A in Mumbai, Oddbird Theatre in Delhi, and NCPA in Mumbai.
