Echos of an empty Sit

Echoes of the Empty Seat is an interdisciplinary performance created and presented by Omaggio, premiered at Art Mumbai 2025 as part of the festival’s curated live programme.

The work explores the chair as a quiet yet powerful vessel of human experience — an object that holds memory, presence, and absence. From the ceremonial to the everyday, the empty seat becomes a metaphor for the lives, bodies, and emotions that pass through it, echoing stories of power, rest, longing, and resilience.

Blending classical Kathak, theatrical language, aerial circus and contemporary dance movement, the performance unfolds as a poetic dialogue between body, space, and object. Movement becomes archive; gesture becomes memory.
